Altazar was once the revered King of Caelthar, a ruler of unmatched wisdom and strength. Trained in the arcane arts, he used his mastery of white magic—a discipline aligned with the Valkyries and the light of Fylla—to protect his people and foster an age of peace. His kingdom stood as a radiant bastion of hope during the First Age of Astralis, a time when mortals expanded across the land, reshaping it to build their civilizations.
But their ambition disrupted the fragile balance of the world, ushering in the apocalyptic First Night, when the Forsaken Maw emerged. These creatures, born of the Void and manifestations of humanity’s sins, sought to annihilate all mortal life. The war between the Maws and the Valkyries began, plunging Astralis into chaos.
Altazar fought valiantly against the onslaught, rallying his armies and wielding his magic to create a bulwark against the Void’s corruption. Yet, the Maws were relentless, their numbers seemingly endless. Despite his efforts, Caelthar became one of the first kingdoms to fall. Altazar’s family—his wife and daughter—were taken from him during the siege, leaving him utterly broken.
The Valkyries, overwhelmed by battles on countless fronts, had been forced to abandon Caelthar to protect more strategic locations. Though their sacrifice helped turn the tide of the war, Altazar’s kingdom was left in ruins, its people decimated. For Altazar, this abandonment was an unforgivable betrayal, and the light of Fylla, which had once guided him, now felt like a cold, distant force.
Bereft of purpose, Altazar wandered the ruins of his once-great kingdom, his grief and anger festering. He blamed the Maws for their destruction, but his resentment toward the Valkyries burned brighter with each passing day. They had left him to this fate, and the "white magic" he had once revered had failed to protect what he held most dear.
Driven by a desperate hope to undo his loss, Altazar delved into forbidden knowledge, seeking a way to resurrect his daughter.
